Grassland Creature Concept 1 (Herbivore 1)

Concept stage to show workflow of creating a creature for my portfolio.

My idea was something like a cow but it had more defenses so I looked towards armor or spines and ended up using spines because it was more visually interesting. The design was based off of a rhino as well with its weaknesses being really apparent. In this case its eyesight had to be terrible because I wanted this creature to sense its world mostly by scent. I ended up using a brightly colored and enlarged nose to make that apparent and a bright blue scent gland so they could release scent into the air to communicate.
